During the month of May we will be highlighting the members of our senior class, spotlighting one senior each week. This week is Nicole Lawson. 

Nikki has been interested in music since she was quite little. When she got old enough to join the school band, she jumped in 100%. Her first instrument was a hand me down flute from her mother, Julia, which she learned quickly, with the help from a talented daughter of a family friend. When it was time to join the High School Marching band, she was encouraged to take up the tenor saxophone. She has since continued playing the flute, as well as alto, soprano, tenor, and baritone sax, along with many percussion instruments. Anything involving music or performance will be guaranteed to grab her attention, be it concert band, pep band, jazz band, marching band, or musical theater. Her room at home looks like she's in an unofficial contest with her dad to see who can accumulate the most musical instruments! 

After graduation, Nikki will be attending Indiana University in the fall, where she hopes to stay involved with music through the I.U. Marching Hundred. ​

The band will be selling concessions and garage sale items at the South Whitley Garage Sale next Friday April 27th and Saturday April 28th. The weather looks good and this stands to be a very profitable fundraiser for us, so we need everyone to pitch in just a little bit!

Middle School Students are asked to donate a package of donuts. Please bring these in before Thursday after school in order for them to get to the garage sale on time.

High School Students are asked to bring some baked goods with them on Friday.

Pep band will be playing on Friday morning. High school students are asked to be there from 9:00-12:00 Friday morning to help get the sale started as well as performing.

In addition, we also need help from both students and parents to run the sales tables. The link below will take you to an online signup form. There you can sign up for a one hour slot (or more if you choose) that works best for your schedule. All I ask is that if you sign up you need to show up. If for some reason you are not able to come during the time you signed up for, please take your name off the list. That way we know who to expect and when. 

*Students will receive extra credit for each hour that they work! However, the student needs to work, extra credit won't be given to the student if an adult works for them.

This is a chance for us to make a good amount of money for our program, so please consider pitching in. If everyone does a little, no one has to do a lot! Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!
