This week is the Solo and Ensemble Festival that we have all been preparing so hard for! I want to start by saying how proud I am of all the hard work that I have seen both high school and middle school students put into preparing their music for this important performance.
Solo/Ensemble Recital
This Wednesday at 6:00 PM in the high school cafeteria we will hold the solo/ensemble recital. This performance is mandatory for all high school students and optional for any middle school students who want to get a practice performance in before Saturday. The choir students will also be performing with us. We are going to make it a relaxed "coffeehouse" style atmosphere by selling coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and baked goods for $1 each. If you would like to donate any of these items, or would like to help with sales, please be in the cafeteria by 5:30. Mr. Terry Fisher, former Director of Bands at DeKalb High School and current educational sales representative for Mynett Music, will be on hand to fill out sample judges sheets. The performance should last about an hour or so.
Solo/Ensemble Festival
Saturday is the Solo/Ensemble Festival at Carroll High School in Fort Wayne. Attached is an updated schedule (there were a few entries that were missed when I put the hard copy together last week), along with all of the information you will need for the day. Please plan to arrive at Carroll approximately one hour before your scheduled performance time. This will ensure you have plenty of time to find parking, find your performance room, get a good warmup in, and be ready to perform.
If you have any questions regarding solo and ensemble please do not hesitate to contact me before Friday evening. While I am going to try my best to attend every performance, you can see on the schedule that some are at the same time as others. If you have any questions at Carroll you should look for a Carroll volunteer to answer them. They have wonderful parent volunteers there and host a great festival each and every year.
Best of luck to everyone!! Have some truly terrific performances!!
